Poll: One Word

In the 1967 movie "The Graduate," Dustin Hoffman's character was told that future success was encapsulated in "one word: plastics." What's the "one word" you would whisper to today's college graduates?

- nanotechnology
- genomics
- software
- broadband
- wireless
- hydrogen
- plastics
- robotics
- other (explain)

First, read Bruce Sterling's "Distraction", and then read http://electionmethods.org.

Rhino,

genomics
broadband AND wireless technologies
plastics (always, until the fossil fuels dry up)
pharmaceutical chemistry (NOT fucking pharmacy as in retail pharmacist, unless you DON'T mind doing a menial, repetitive, mindless, frenetic, lackey job 8 to 12 hours a day on your feet BUT getting paid
handsomely for it)

Take my word for it, the money ISN'T enough after about 5 years of that shit, much less 26 years of doing it.

[Casey]
Nanotechnology will reap some people huge benefits.  I like it and would suggest someone who is logically-inclined to pursue this field.  A good background in applied physics,  in the fields of materials science and nanoscale electronics, would be very helpful.

I also like the field of Computer Science quite alot.  I think anyone diving into this field, with a specialization in artificial intelligence, will be making a name for themself.  Designing AI that can handle problems effectively and without uncertainty is a long way off, but it's still a field of study that I'd highly recommend.

Kind regards,
Casey
