Democratic Representatives John Conyers of Michigan and Louise Slaughter of New York had submitted similar requests under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), on February 15, 2005. The Louise Slaughter request was answered by the Department of Homeland Security with Secret Service records of Mr. Gannon's check in and out times at the White House.[24] The Secret Service Records appear to show that Gannon checked in, but never checked out on many occasions, and visited the White House on several days during which no press conference or other press events were held.[25] In a 2007 interview, Gannon stated that he has never spent the night at the White House.[8]
