The US action in Iraq has now resulted in more deaths than the Rwandan Genocide of 1994
According to Dr. Les Roberts from Columbia University, UK government scientists told Tony Blair that the Lancet had, if anything, underestimated the dead at 655,000 (more than the Rwandan genocide of 1994), despite the deliberate efforts of the U.S. government to suppress numbers of the dead, with their estimates of one thenth that being accepted only by their brain damaged supporters.

The speaker is more than competent to discuss the field. Les Roberts, PhD, holds has a Masters degree in public health from Tulane University and a Ph.D. in environmental engineering from Johns Hopkins. He did a post-doctorate fellowship in epidemiology at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention where he worked for 4 years. In 1994, he worked as an epidemiologist for the World Health Organization in Rwanda during their civil war. He previously served as the Director of Health Policy at the International Rescue Committee. He is a lecturer at the Johns Hopkins University Department of Geography and Environmental Engineering where he teaches each fall. He teaches a class entitled Water and Sanitation in Complex Emergencies and the 7-week quantitative component of the Program’s Investigative Methods in Complex Emergencies course. [Blunderov]The figures make it a little tricky to claim that Iraq is better off than it was under Saddam. Not that this will stop some defectives from claiming so anyway.
Perhaps though, all of these shenanigans may have a positive result after all in the form of the dissolution of Israel? If the USA is the big loser in the region what does that make Israel? Especially in view of the fact that the independent viability of the Israeli economy seems something seriously open to doubt. From what I can gather, it seems to depend upon the export of fruit, electronics, and the provision of 'financial services' and not much else. This without even an adequate supply of water. Global warming does not seem to offer any prospect of improving matters either.
It cannot either be of any comfort to Israel that there are signs of a rift in the lute between the USA and it's Sunni allies in the region. Both Saudi Arabia and Jordan have been showings distinct signs of Unhappy Camper Syndrome of late. Recently a prominent Saudi went so far as to describe the USA occupation of Iraq (we seem to hear less of 'coalitions' and 'allies' these days) as 'illegitimate' which is of course indubitably true. It comes as a nasty surprise, though, when somebody inside the tent starts pissing inside the tent instead of out of it.
Perhaps nothing is ever completely wasted - something which I always hope is true.
