I like some of the ideas brought forward in this docu and the whole meme thing has a strong presence but then they go all the way and claim that we are all gods and can make our own day.

There's no reason to call it God anymore.
But many people still do. And if you plan on having a dialogue with them, you ought to know how to speak their language.
It's important to understand that the foundations of religion are nothing more than solid philisophical inquiry.

About 2 years ago I made the grave mistake of dating a born again Christian and these people use the word God in very scary ways.
As people seem to like 3 letter words... cant we call the 'thing' that is everything Sum*?

Many people are just using the word God in the *wrong* way. In the way it was not originally intended.
They use it to subvert people's will and inspiration and to bilk them out of cash.

And how does one know what way the word God was intended to be used? Is that written down somewhere? Did someone invented the word and laid out it's proper usage?
I do not believe in a greater plan or a usage of a word to describe this plan/thing/being.

There are many written texts and historical accounts of God. The modern definition I have provided for God fits most of the available historical texts and also provides a framework for future discussion.

Even if we pointed out the origins of words used at different times and places to signify gods or other similar entities, and if we categorized these words according to the concepts we are talking about here, and if we found a prevalence of your own concept of god, would that invalidate the existence of the other concepts of god? I don't think language respects posterity rules or majority rules accross times and places.
It comes close to that within a given homogenous literate society where people look up words in dictionaries, but even then, the dictionary writers have to revise them every few years following the flow.
In our case, if we have lots of people who believe in a personal entity doing all this shit, which they call God, it seems over-ambitious to hope that they will let the word to be hijacked by people who don't even use it, who would make it mean something different. What does it take to hijack a word? And would its current users abandon the concept and follow the hijacked word to a new concept?
