Jake, I'd like to tell you a story. I liked your tuner metaphor -
frequency modulation is apt. As I prepare to actually begin layering in
the meme, I will try to keep on the frequency that points right to the
boundary of the matter, and if I start to stray, tell me!
Would it make sense, intuitively, to say that every group believes that
it has a lock on the 'right way' to live? And that that 'right way' to
live is transmitted amongst members of the group via various signals,
codes, words, phrases, cars, clothing, body language, accents,
reactions, activities, etc...? So to transmit a meme, one needs to be
transmitting in a way that 'the locals' (the CoV) feel is the 'right
way'.
The breadth and depth which different groups insist is the 'right way'
is astonishing!
So, before I introduce the story, how about the metadata for the story:
