Hang in there comrade.
Remember Stuart Kauffman's findings in his work on emergent complexity ie. "At Home in the Universe"/"Origins of Order".
Life (and other emergent systems) are healthiest RIGHT AT the boundary between order and chaos.
And like you said "the whole damn planet seems just about ready to burst into flames but maybe this is the way the world always is."
So I'm guessing we're just right about where we not only "need to be", but right where we HAVE TO BE.
However, I fully agree with you.
It's kind of a scary spectacle to view.
