Eliezer Yudkowsky of the Singularity Institute for Artificial Intelligence  (http://www.singinst.org) experienced a heavy family loss recently and he posted some thoughts on death here:

http://www.sl4.org/archive/0411/10270.html

Basically, he goes over current and past views on death and argues for his resolve to fight back against death.

I frequently talk about the *urgency* of transhumanism.  It is not something that we sit idly by and talk about.  It is something that we must fervently *evangelize* in a manner similar to opponents of free thought who evangelize dogmatic relgions.

“Upgrade or become obsolete” is a phrase that comes to mind.

First, read Bruce Sterling's "Distraction", and then read http://electionmethods.org.

The immortalist slogan should be "Join us or die!"
