Hello everyone,

I came across this post-election analysis of the US Presidential race in the Sunday Boston Globe published this past weekend on 14 November 2004.  It was originally published by MassINC's CommonWealth Magazine, http://www.massinc.org/Commonwealth/index.html, and has been picked up by several well-known blogs, such as the DailyKos, http://dailykos.com/

Each region is analyzed using various measurements, ie.  age, ethnicity, education, and annual income.  Along with these measurements we are presented brief backgrounds of each region and their general tendencies with regard to Presidential elections.

I highly recommend reading the article and examining the analysis to give yourself a better picture of how electoral politics plays out in the United States.  The link below will take you to the CommonWealth Magazine's article, which includes the aforementioned analysis and the map I've added below that breaks down into the various regions the article describes:

In addition, I've added the post-election results of each region mentioned in the article:

Bush 38.3% Kerry 60.3%
Sagebrush
Bush 60.6% Kerry 38.1%
El Norte
Bush 44.1% Kerry 54.9%
Farm Belt
Bush 59% Kerry 40.1%
Big River
Bush 50.1% Kerry 49%
Southern Comfort
Bush 61.3% Kerry 38%
Great Lakes
Bush 42.3% Kerry 56.7%
Southern Lowlands
Bush 51.5% Kerry 47.8%
Appalachia
Bush 61.4% Kerry 37.8%
Northeast Corridor
Bush 39.5% Kerry 59.4%

Kind regards,
Casey
