Yahweh 3, Science 0
http://www.cnn.com/2004/HEALTH/07/01/rabies.organ.transplant/
Noting how believers like to credit Yahweh whenever good fortune or seemingly miraculous events intersect their unexamined lives, I have taken of late to provide balance to this unjustified. lopsided praisefest.
Now, whenever I hear of misfortune or malady or disaster befalling good people for no apparent reason, I exhort a loud, ringing "Way to go, Yahweh!!".
ESPECIALLY when a believer is within earshot

[Walter] Noting how believers like to credit Yahweh whenever good fortune or seemingly miraculous events intersect their unexamined lives, I have taken of late to provide balance to this unjustified. lopsided praisefest.
Now, whenever I hear of misfortune or malady or disaster befalling good people for no apparent reason, I exhort a loud, ringing "Way to go, Yahweh!!".

[rhinoceros] Last week I found this quote:
"The brain is not an organ of thinking but an organ of survival, like claws and fangs. It is made in such a way as to make us accept as truth that which is only advantage. It is an exceptional, almost pathological constitution one has, if one follows thoughts logically through, regardless of consequences. Such people make martyrs, apostles, or scientists, and mostly end on the stake, or in a chair, electric or academic. - Albert Szent-Gyorgi
What does it have to do with anything? Well, if you think of it, you can't sue god or bad luck if things go wrong, but you can sue a doctor. On the othe hand, you can do without owing the doctors anythng if things turn out OK.

.. or as a wise man once said, belief in superstition brings bad luck.
I like that tactic WW, I only hope it does not end with a fat lip, as it did for me!
Totally unrelated, but since I have never seen anyone quote Albert Szent-Gyorgi before, here is another gem, “Discovery consists of seeing what everybody has seen and thinking what nobody has thought."
take care and control the bricoleur
