I could have bet that I would never lose my sleep over football, but gladly I didn't make that bet. It is almost 2a.m. in Greece and the cars are honking non-stop in the streets as I am writing this ;-)
The team has gone a long way to the semifinals of Euro-2004, and beating France was not a small thing. I was expecting that the players would have started infighting by now (as people who are insecure about their status often do) but maybe the virus of professionalism has taken hold, for good or for bad.
Several years ago, when Greece won a Eurochampionship in basketball, there was an earworm song which took over the sports fans here:
