An update on the brain-machine interface, aka psychokinetic wired monkeys at Duke:

Those wired monkeys moved a robotic arm by thought alone, without having to hold and move a dummy handle for stimulating the right brain activity.

As the article says, this can be important for people with kinetic disabilities in the short term. Probably much more in the long term.
