I know all that. But I felt that to the very least I had to tell them how
they were wrong, even if teh odds they'll listen are a million to one. I
used the same logic a month ago when I sent an e-mail to the White House: I
doubt anybody, let alone the president, will ever read it. I doubt even more
that it'll have any impact on his policies. But if I criticize him 'behind
his back' all the time, then I must at least try to communicate. The same
applies to the creationnists. We should always at least try the respectful,
communicative approach, even if there's 99.99999% probability that it'll
fail. Then we can try another approach.

A commendable empathic attitude, imho!

I find myself pulled both directions in many situations; on the one hand,
chosing the path of greatest effectiveness would point the way toward, as
some have put it on this forum, "feeding only the hungry", ie, correcting or
informing only those that will accept criticism or new knowledge with an
open, critical, rational mind. On the other hand, finding a concise, precise
message to broadcast, counting on that small percentage spread across vast
numbers, not skipping over those that we EXPECT to reject or discard the
message.

I think this has importance in this forum; we as a collective can't do much
unless we're able to grow in size and effectiveness. This is part of the
reason I brought up the subject, if you were in the IRC chat before our
scheduled chat the other day, of "bumper sticker" memes promoting rational
or reasonable thought. Anyone have anything to add? Because I need to hear
your comments ;-}
