This seems like one of many "stop gap" measures by the orignal creationist community to come to terms with evolution. Others may also parade under "Intelligent Design" theory championed by Michael Behe and his religious allies. On some level these new hydra heads deserve severe rational criticism as they all inevitably try to add unwarranted, distracting, and irrational religious clauses to standard evolutionary theory, and generally tend to undermine understanding of evolutionary theory as the evidence actually warrants. On another level, these many new chimeras of evolution/creationist ideology do seem to communicate a new tacit understanding that the old arguments no longer hold the attention that they used to on both scientific and religious fronts. The creationist community truly seems to have moved into an intellectual crisis stage, the likes of which they had previously avoided, and probably will not survive as the intact political movement that they previously were.
