CeBIT is the largest technology show in the world drawing over 500,000 people to Hannover, Germany every year. The American version just finished and the numbers are not nearly as impressive, estimates are around 15,000 for its first run in the US.
CeBit stands for Centrum der Buero- und Informationstechnik--in English, that's the Center for Office and Information Technology. Instead of calling the show CeBIT America they should have named it COIT-US. Then the byline on this story would have read "COIT-US began not with a bang but a whimper."
