Due a bug in the BBS software we are currently unable to send private messages (or reply to private message) to users with a space in their user name. FYI

Oh, that explains it. I think it's also affecting me in Meridion, because when I click my name on the reputations list, I get the message: "The user whose profile you are trying to view does not exist. -- Matt" I'll try changing my user name to put an underscore in it and see what happens.

Well, I put an underscore in my display name but it didn't fix these problems. The board still requires that I log in without the underscore, so the software seems to recognize the distinction between login name and display name at every level. Can the admins alter my login name?

Our newest member, The Project, has a space in his name. Are the admins able to change login names? If not, how long do you expect it to take to fix the bug? The reason I ask is that if it's going to be a long time, I need to cut my losses and re-register. I don't want to lose the posts, votes, karma and reputation that I've already put in.

This bug, along with the private message bug related to names with spaces in them, has been fixed.

Wonderful, thank you! This is a case where I don't want to just click "applause," and raise your karma. Public appreciation is called for.
