I don't know- I think mainly it's because Lucifer Media Corporation is the site provider.

The name is probably used for provocation, but also, it's interesting to note that Lucifer actually means "Bringer of Light", and is an alternative name for the planet Venus- the Morning Star.

As far as I'm aware the resons for the use of the word "Lucifer" in the Bible as a name for Satan is obscure at best, possibly being a reference to the illuminated state from which he was said to have fallen. I suppose you'd expect the name to mean the complete opposite, seeing as the devil is most often associated with darkness.

The other reason I've heard is that it's a direct reference to the planet Venus (Lucifer being an alternative name for it).

Venus is visible at dawn, but its light is soon dwarfed by that of the Sun, compared to which it is dim and fading.

This is supposed to be symbolic of Satan's diminished holiness.

As far as the Bible goes, there seem to be distinct Satanic entities. There are names for a number of different devils: Mephistopheles, Baal, Baphomet, Beelzebub, Lucifer, Satan for example, and i don't think they all necessarily refer to the same entity but have different origins. I think Lucifer refers in particular to the fallen angel. He was called the light-bringer or the morning star, i believe, because of his position before his fall. And after the fall just kept the name.
