Having been a pharmacist for over 30 years, I enjoyed this.

I hope you do too.

It certainly rings from a different era; before corporate Pharmacies ruled the drug business. I enjoyed the perspective. I did have trouble visualizing you with 45 stuck in the back of your pants and PPK in your sock thought, or were you more the shotgun under the counter druggist ?

Cheers

My career/age kind of straddled both eras. The beginning was filled with working in independent stores like the one Mr. Karp owned. The latter part was characterized more accurately by imagining the drugstore in the movie  "Natural Born Killers".

As far as firearms, I usually had a 9mm or something similar stashed somewhere, but never used it even during even during the two armed robberies that occurred in the 30+ years of practice.

I would never have used it to protect property ie. drugs, only life if I had felt imminently threatened and I was absolutely certain I could get the drop on the assailant.

The need for hand guns still catches me off guard. I left for small town Ontario 30 years ago and am now hanging out in Toronto again. Robberies and gun crimes were not the norm 30 years ago; now the corner Shoppers Drug Mart was robbed twice in one week before Christmas and this is a "nice" neighborhood. I always smugly chuckled when I used to watch the news from Buffalo with various shootings and violent crimes and the news cast ending with " Do you know where your children are ?". Now there are parts of Toronto I avoid for person safety.

Sigh
