Dogmatism in religions served for centuries for planting what the creator of the religion supposed is ethical and what is not, to the minds of its believers using a variant of the metholodology pavlov used to train his dog.
I dont consider this act of implanting a system of action triggered fears (as in Islam), guilt (as in Christianity) etc. But as I see there is a reason to it. Humankind had (and still has) more basic problems on the bottom of the pyramid that drives the system called human mind to actions like theft and murder. The religious dogma gave these people a feelıng of a divine doing*the*right*thing that is based on the religious ethics.
How does Church of Virus consider to replace this mission of the religions existing on the planet: Putting together an ethical system that is not ultimately subjective?
Or do you believe law has already taken the place. (If so I have objections)
(Excuse my repeating of some words. English is not my native language.)

The Virian ethics are codified in our Sins and Virtues. Kharin recently wrote an interesting article on Empathy and Vision: The Quiet Virtues.
Let me know if I misunderstood your question.
p.s. I don't think I would agree with your characterization of religion (as ethical chains for misfits).

I was addressing people lacking one or more of the 3 virian virtues because of a physical problem.
I suspect that employing rationality, empathy and vision is the best strategy for dealing with people that lack rationality, empathy and/or vision. If you have a particular scenario in mind we could go into more detail.
