Free bandwidth?

I don't know exactly how this works, but I tried putting a banner for my signature in an FTP server (smartgroups.com) I can make my signature in every forum hold my banner from the FTP, hyperlinked to my own website (on the FTP server again). So I basically have my own website for free, advertised with every post. But then the FTP server says I can only do so many downloads, and every time someone clicks on a forum thread with my picture, that uses up my downloads available. I assume this is a bandwidth problem.
There must be a way I can keep advertising, and not pay a penny.
What ways can I solve this problem? Especially by scamming the system to do free stuff?
eg: Are there other free FTP servers that will let me do more? Is there a good strategy for using several in unison? I thought once of using forums themselves as FTP servers, does that make sense?

I noticed the price on this ad, not free but apparently nearly so. And you might be able to fix the cost by sub-hosting for a couple of other people...
