I received these cartoons as color JPEG files even though they were just greyscale images, via email and without attribution. I created a montage from the 8 jpg files using GraphicsMagick's (an enhanced fork of ImageMagick) montage command and then converted them into a single black and white image using The Gimp's "Convert Image to Indexed" to squeeze them till it fitted into the maximum graphic file size supported on the BBS.
