virus: Just asking...

I tremble in fear of starting this all up again and having it veer of, of
its own power, into misplaced discussions of ideologies once again.
But...

Now...

Is it in our interest to look at what kind of structure is used by a
meme complex such as this, that allows it to survive for 1000 plus years?

Or, is it even a complex proper? Is "the M-word" really a type of protein
shell employed by a large number of different memes because of its
effectiveness? If this is the case, do we need to look into /why/ this
particular protein shell is so very good at worming itself past other
defenses? Does it have a quality we can extract and use to spread other
memes (science, Darwinism, memetics, etc.)?

I'm not starting a discussion. I'm just asking. **Can** we have a
discussion /about/ the M-word and its use (or mis-use, if you will) by
humans in culture creation?

Is it possible on *this* list, to talk about <Mysticism> without it being
seen, by some, as some sort of mystical discussion?
