> (2)  You are making the most common 'newbie' mistake here:  your first
post to the list is just an announcement of how much you dislike the list
and its members.  Well, since a post is also a contribution, how much of a
'contribution' is it to exclaim, in a haughty, dismissing fashion, "You
Suck"?  How can you complain of the atmosphere if, first time posting, you
add to the pollution?  In short, you just dissin' us is not contributing
anything useful.  Either abandon ship or take it upon yourself to stimulate
conversation/debate that you enjoy.  It's not like you've even made an
effort to do so.

That's exactly what I did. The topic I enjoy discussing is human
interaction, and that's exactly the tread that sprouted from my little seed.
Generally the most effective way to get a response is to provoke it in way
that threatens whatever it is that a person cherishes. In this case, it was
the intelligence of the list, and I got a response and a most enjoyable
conversation sprung up.
I generally speak for my own amusement, and listen to others' creative
responses. I'm not in this world to seek truth -- truth is arbitrary -- I'm
just here to enjoy myself. (when I say here, I mean this world, not just
this list)

climbers to the mountain top, but me I'm looking for just the perfect moment,
so I can slip through time. -Laurie Anderson
