virus: Appliance worship

This morning, a discussion of religion which got started because I said that “a church is as close to being relavent to God as my refrigerator is”.
My friend, who is a fairly progressive believer in God conceded the point. He even claimed that an honest religious leader would admit that their church is no more relavent or holy than a home appliance.
I speculated that these sorts of leaders would be hard to find.
He promptly invited me to pose the challenge at his church. I plan to do it next week, in front of a fairly large congregation.
Granted, it's a progressive Interfaith church, but stil - it seemed interesting.
