Well, I finally did it...
Actually, not quite, but almost. Today I made an appointment at the Ultimate Arts ( http://www.ultimatearts.com ) parlor to get a tattoo. Last night I went to an "Erotic Exotic" bash at a local club where they had a costume contest, and my friend Jen ended up with the $50 certificate there, and was nice enough to give it to me. So I am using it for the downpayment on a tattoo that I have been planning for a long time. It involves the ideo-hazard symbol and my moniker, but I won't say anything else, lest I spoil the surprise. My appointment is on Tuesday afternoon, so if all turns out well, sometime this coming week I'll be able to provide a picture or two of the finished product. Wish me luck!

Well, it's still not too late. You have until high noon tomorrow to go out, get drunk and have one put on your ass. But I'm not sure if you'd want to show it off as much and provide a photograph.

But of course. Since you're searching, try to find the thread in the CoV mailing list from last May/June 2002 where I posted pictures of it. Good luck!
And on a totally unrelated topic, according to my computer screen I only have 70 posts, when in fact I should have several hundred at least. What the hell is up with that?!

Well, that was quick on the draw (draw - tattoo - get it?)! I'm afraid I haven't those archives to search, I've known of CoV for a few years (4?!) and transhumanism et al a couple before that, I never endeavored to actually participate though, much to my chagrin now, (& I'm still pretty...shy.). Good for you, to wear your heart on your sleeve, erm ass like that!

I removed the archives from the BBS because they were slowing it down too much. The complete archives can still viewed at the Javien Forum site.

I noticed another symbol when I went to the homepage of the Javien Forum you referenced: http://forum.javien.com/index.php It's a circle with three thorns coming out of it. What's that the symbol of? Extropy, perhaps? And speaking of Extropy, David, I noticed your name mentioned repeatedly on the homepage of the Extropy Institute. http://www.extropy.com/ What's the nature of your involvement with them over the years?

He believed in a door. The door was the way to... to... The Door was The Way. Good. Capital letters were always the best way of dealing with things you didn't have a good answer to.

No, that's the original Javien logo. Javien was my .com startup. I'm no longer involved. Any similarity to the extropy logo is purely coincidental.

I've hosted the extropy web site and mailing list since '96 and I'm currently on the ExI board of directors. Most recently I designed the site for Vital Progress Summit with the help of fellow #virus denizens crw and Sat.
