A series of links, separated by colons, which serve to let the reader know where in a website they are located and to facilitate easy backnavigation to discover related pages. In the VirianWiki the Cookie Trail also serves to provide hints to the mapping system to create appropriate site indices.
e.g. [VirianLexicon]:[cookietrail]
Cookie Trails beginning with [HomePage] will be added to the main site index page and should only be used for pages providing indices, although such pages must contain introductory text, explaining the category of documents it is intended to hold and may contain text explaining its use.
