Potential [Virians|Virian] are by definition those who accept the ["Virian Virtues"|VirianVirtues], reject the ["Senseless Sins"|SenselessSins], and share the goals of the [Church of Virus|ChurchOfVirus].

[Virians|Virian] are those who assert themselves to be [Virians|Virian] and are accepted as [Virians|Virian] by the members of the [Church of Virus|ChurchOfVirus].

The [Church of Virus|ChurchOfVirus] maintains a ["Reputation rating system"|http://virus.lucifer.com/bbs/index.php?action=repIndex] which permits any member of this system to rate all of the other members of the system.

The system calculates the reputation of members depending on how they are perceived by themselves and other [Virians|Virian].

Members of the ["Reputation rating system"|http://virus.lucifer.com/bbs/index.php?action=repIndex] allocate one another's 'Reputations', by allocating them values:
 1. This person should be banned
 2. Little or no redeeming value
 3. Strongly negative opinion
 4. Slight negative opinion
 5. Neutral or no opinion
 6. Slight positive opinion
 7. Strong positive opinion
 8. A credit to the the community
 9. A pillar of the community

A computer algorithm converts this assigned 'Reputation' into:
*Reputation The average rating weighted by each member's influence.
*Influence How much weight the member's opinion carries. This is calculated from the reputation such that in a community of N members the voting weight is allocated as:
**Level 9 voting weight 1
**Level 5 voting weight 1/N
**Level 1 voting weight 1/N^2
*Equity The percentage of the total influence wielded by this member, where the 'Influence' is a determination of how much weight a member's opinion carries, calculated from the Reputation such that in a community of N members one level 7 member will have as much influence as N level 4s, and one level 4 will have as much influence as N level 1s. In this way, a member's 'Equity' reflects the percentage of the total influence wielded by a member.

For the purpose of evaluating 'Influence' and 'Equity', unrated members are allocated a 'neutral Reputation' of 5.

[Virians|Virian] are assigned "equity" in the [Church of Virus|ChurchOfVirus] which is based upon their reputation.

Members in [good standing|GoodStanding] of the [Church of Virus|ChurchOfVirus] who are members of the ["Reputation rating system"|http://virus.lucifer.com/bbs/index.php?action=repIndex] are refered to as the [Virian Congregation|VirianCongregation].
