You are first presupposing that the western cultural referent of
"country" would be self ascribed by the African cultures. The concept shows
marked resistance in the traditional tribal nations that still remain. As
the concept of land ownership would be an alien one to any agrarian nomadic
society.
How would the African continent have segregated itself of its own accord
had not it been for the influence of western "civilisation"? More
fundamentally, would it necessarily have done so in the first place?
