Here I agree too. It seems to me that at least once each year we have
discovered another buried treasure of antiquity that has expanded our
understanding of how much more we are like our ancient ancestors.

I think this is all a part of that *specialness* meme that we talk about
when we think of the Earth as the center of the universe... This is a
hard one to get rid of. I think it still pervades all of us. Human
narcissism at the core.
