I don't remember suggesting that the next higher branch was better,
just up, although this does give me insight into what your mental
conversion process is. I did not know that up = better

you start at the trunk in this imaginary knowledge tree as it is a
singular point at the beginning, if, as in this model, knowledge =
branches, then the more you explore, the more you know the branches you
want to explore. no path is better or worse except perhaps where goals
are involved: the knowledge of medicine is valuable to someone who has a
goal to be a doctor.
