I am of the impression that memetics in general has this difficulty, but
that it (whatever IT is...) is trying mightily to shake it down.

Now, while forums such as this, and the Journal of Memetics, and even
alt.memetics, all seem to be embroiled in this controversy, there remains
a {core?} group which forge bravely ahead doing 'memetic' things. I am
not in a position to travel their road, but if they get up the road a
spell, great, please wave me to join the caravan. Likewise, if I look
back and see them, I'll wave them on up. Whether or not either one of us
moves in the other's direction is, of course, the rub.

It would be nice to have a central icon called a Meme 'round which we may
say a few heretical prayers, but so far, all the statues have melted.
