I think your theory is lousy with presuppositions. In particular, the
phrase "getting away with" implies (1) you have better morals/integrity
than they do, (2) there is something wrong with exercising personal power,
(3) [this seems to be a core issue for you] you are a victim of other
people's deceit and/or oppression.
