Ah, a simple web search on 'Dali AND drugs' on Yahoo yields at least
three sites in the top ten matches which include this quote -

'I do not take drugs. I am drugs.'
Salvador Dali

And indeed, is this not what we are really talking about- That the artist
(whatever that is) either has to, or seems to, have an _altered_
perception?

I claim the drug user denies the normal capacity (maybe even hampers it)
to achieve this. Many here would claim that there are monastic and elite
methods of achieving this. Others would claim reading a particular book
is a necessary first step.

We certainly would agree, I think, that several behavioral and physical
actions need to be undertaken before 'normal' perception is altered.

Dali's genius, if you will, was his ability to return and show us what he
saw.
