I recognize that most people have given these matters a great deal more thought than myself, but I will not assume that makes them any more or less right. Nor do I intend to ignore what others have to say and work it out for myself, but through the process of thesis and antithesis, yield a synthesis of ideas that satisfies best.

As for paying scant attention to your responses, let's get back to the topic at hand, shall we? You earlier defined pattern as compression, but later reminded me that we do not generally define things by their uses. How is your's not a definition by use?
