Nateman--Your posts don't come through to me so I can easily read them--I
have to retrieve them as files and then they appear in HTML format.

"What's wrong with being committed to defending the truth as you see it?"
can get restated as, "What's wrong with being committed to justifying your
point of view?". If you're committed to justifying your point of view,
then you're committed to preserving a subjective view of reality, and that
committment makes it easy to overlook evidence that your point of view
isn't the whole picture. If the subjective view was in sync with objective
reality, no committment would be necessary to defend it. So, why make a
committment? A lot of people in the Middle East seem committed to defending
the truth as they see it.
