List,

David is right...I am overgeneralizing (and mostly in response to another
list). I *did* say "women ON THIS LIST". I can't say that specifically and
I appologize for the misunderstanding.

I meant to say that "women in general" tend to react a certain way when they
do not understand something or they feel threatened. Even this comment is
unfair. Had I said "some people" tend to respond in certain ways, though;
some people would still be offended. People do not like
generalizations--they are always the exceptions (or so they think).

I *also* went on to say that I have developed a tolerent attitude toward
humor on an electronic mailing list. I have an odd understanding of humor,
though--that it is a defense against attainment. Psychology tells me that
defense mechanisms are often regressions to a more infantile mental state
(and for those of you who wonder "Where does Brett get this stuff", I get
most of my leanings from the discipline of psychology...in which I have the
equivalent of a Masters Degree).

Of course, on mailing lists,IN GENERAL, there will be times when the group
and its individuals are progressing and times when they are regressing. If
one can say that adolescent boys act *exactly* like adolescent girls; then,
one might assume that when the ladies regress they would act *exactly* like
the men when they regress. I don't expect this to be the case; and as such,
I stand behind my assessment even without direct examples of such behavior.
I believe that women who are confused become like adolescent girls (and thus
the sexual innuendo) and that men when they regress become like adolescent
boys (and thus sarcastic and oppositional)...I would say that *any* list
would be sufficient to observe this behavior.

The delusional reaction is not on my part (as some other posts have pointed
out). The delusion is evident in the *over-reaction* to my post..the
denial, the projection/hurt feelings, and fingerpointing. A good example
is David's reaction: "I have been a member of this list since the beginning
and no woman has ever behaved in the manner described." Come on, David...NO
woman has EVER behaved in such a manner? And what manner is it that we are
talking about?; "silly", "flippant", "adolescent", "confused",
"regressed"...*with well hidden intelligence*, *with humor* (these are the
words I used). Don't you think you are over-reacting? Don't you all see
how you are over-reacting?
