I agree with your position completely, but there are many who do not.
Devil's avocate:

The meaning of life is revealed in the Bible, of course. Jesus is the
Way, the Truth and the Life. Our mission here on Earth is to worship
God (the holy trinity of Father, Son, and Ghost) and honour his
teachings so that we may enter into Heaven. Spread the Word!

Indeed, I've never been able to figure out this thing Christians call
love. It strikes me that if they truly need a God to tell them that
they are to love their neighbour as themself, the world is in much worse
shape then I had thought...
