People believe in God because they
don't understand the difference between good and bad reasons for
belief. I know that sounds condescending but the evidence supports it. I would
like to be proven wrong if you would like to try.

I think people believe in God because they perceive a benefit or want to avoid
punishment and/or become afilliated. It has very little to do with good and
bad reasons for belief until they try to start justifying their position.
