Reading about Zen Buddhism discourages many people who would benefit
tremendously from giving it a try. If you have, and it didn't work for
you, I sympathize for your loss - I'm still trying, have for several
years (unstrivingly) and have some mild improvements to show for it.
I liked Marcus Aurelius - his Stoicism was not discouraging to me, I used
it for an example of how character can be developed to overcome
adversity. Did I miss the point?
