Recent posts (fnord) have mentioned Sri Syadasti, a saint in an
obscure little religion that popped up in the early seventies, and
has been clinging to the fringes of society ever since. (Hail Eris!)
Following an Absurdist philosophy, (fnord) discordians can protect
themselves from infection from other philosophies by concentrating on
the following mantra: "Nothing really matters." Additional mantras
are: "Nothing is true, everything is permissible." and "Do what thou
wilt shall be the whole of the law." More information can be found

"Wherein Is Explained Absolutely Everything Worth Knowing About
Absolutely Anything"
The discordians were popularized in the _Illuminatus!_ Trilogy,
written by Robert A. Wilson and Robert Shea. Two interesting side
notes: Wilson is a major backer of E-Prime, and I think that the card
game that Tim refered to in the "Re: virus: Is learning valuable?"
thread is "Illuminati: New World Order", produced by Steve Jackson
Games. The game is based on the _Illuminatus!_ books, and can be
quite fun to play. Swing by my pad sometime and we'll play a couple
games.
