Egoists can't "save" people? You've got a messed up view of egotism.
Yes, when it comes right down to it, it's all about ME. But helping
others, giving them something to chew on, also gives ME (the important
one in this equation) pleasure. Just like how I "get off" on giving my
lover pleasure. It's about ME in some respects (the power trip of making
her speak in tongues and curl-up her toes), but it ends up being about US.
We're not ALL into masturbation ALL of the time, just like we're not
always making love to make babies.
