Every now and one of the few rationalists left on the list tries to rise above the noise floor, and recall to the list what the introduction to the Virion Religion says on the introductory page at http://virus.lucifer.com

Virus is:
a forum for rational discourse
a memetically engineered atheistic religion a synthesis of religion and evolution
the best possible conceptual framework for living and thinking a neo-cybernetic philosophy for the 21st century Darwin's dangerous idea out of control
an extended phenotype of the Virion Council

Despite any impression that recent reading of the list might have left its subscribers, the home page does not suggest that it is a post-modernist, feel-good, psycho-babble forum. There are zillions of those all over usenet...

While I personally prefer a more polite and restrained mode of debate than we have suffered recently, I think I understand the frustration levels which have led to the recent degeneration. Try to map the description above to the contents of the list...
