Prescription is a synthesis of understanding and intent. Description is a synthesis of observation and analysis.

Normative is a synthesis of knowledge and intent.

The difference between the two is therefore the differenve between knowledge and understanding, so applying that translation to "descriptive", I guess I would have to say.....
