...given the assumption of this forum that our ideas are constructed
of memes, and - therefore - what we put into our heads is what comes out [metaphorically speaking] I thought it might be a good idea if I shared some of my recent [and current] reading material.
...also because I just got back from the library with about 20 pounds
of new stuff and I'm pretty excited right now.

Recent reading:

Biosphere Politics - Jeremy Rifkin
Powershift - Alvin Toffler
The End of Work - Jeremy Rifkin
Whose Brave New World - Heather Menzies
Writings on Civil Disobedience and nonviolence - Tolstoy Food of the Gods - Terence McKenna
The Skin of Culture - Derrick DeKerckhove Data Trash - Arthur Kroker

In the middle of:

Technopoly - Neil Postman
General Linguistics - can't remember who it's by

Just got today:

Why things Bite Back: Technology and the revenge of unintended consequences - Edward Tenner
The DNA Mystique: The gene as a Cultural Icon - Nelkin & Lindee Logic made Easy - R.H. Warring
The Mind of God - Paul Davies

The Web of Life - Fritjof Capra
The Ape that Spoke - Language and the Evolution of the Human Mind - John McCrone

...some bastard nicked the ONE Bertrand Russel book @ my local
Library (Why I'm not a Christian) AND the circulating copy of Bacon's Novum Organum. And last time I went somebody [who obviously missed the whole point] had stolen Marx's "Communist Manifesto"...

...ah Libraries, possibly my favourite social institution next to the
coffeehouse [where more revolutions are born than anywhere else]
