I was not exposed to any sort of religion by my parents, unlike my siblings I was not baptised, the only exposure I got was from school and that was only in a small way, no actual belief entrenched on me

Exposure to Christian Orthodoxy (always a class at school). Early cautious hints at atheism at home (a child in a military dictatorship with "Christian values"). Atheist since childhood. Still following major religiocultural events.

When I was really young I had no religious influence. When I was around 8 years old I was exposed to Christianity by a neighborhood friend. I explored it, but never became one. As I grew into my pre-teens I started to study forms of Paganism and Atheis

My (single) mother was brought up a catholic but became an atheist. She felt she had to give her sons the opportunity 'to make up our own minds' and used to bribe us to go to church with ice cream. We soon decided that the ice cream wasn't worth the crap

I spent my first six years in Israel. Although my family wasn't really religious, my parents insisted on reading from the Bible for the cultural heritage. Later we moved to France - and while my exposure to Christianity here was rather limited, I wouldn't

I'll put down both Athiesm and Christianity, as I had a very non-religious upbringing. Sort of Christian by default, but very non practicing.

Exposed by cultural default -- no parents to blame for this one ;-)
prometheusChristianity
Exposed to Catholic and Anglican meme sets. Resisted them at an early age. Asked too many questions and made Sunday school teachers uncomfortable.

Catholic upbringing - baptized, had first communion, but not confirmed. I chose to stop attending church at age 14.

I was raised protestant (congregational/presbyterian), i had to go to church every week until i was confirmed. My parents and the people I knew in church were all pretty liberal, and later i found out my parents were agnostic and pantheists, not really c

I was lucky. I grew up in the "godless USSR."

I was raised a Baptist since I was a little munchkin, was baptised in my early teens, but—in my late teens—became a devout agnostic atheist.

I have deep spiritual need/capacity and actually volunteered for baptism at 13. I cried over Jesus's wounds. But I realized later that my deep empathy for humanity didn't have to funnel through that particular myth, or any other.

My parents were vaguely Russian Orthodox Christian. My books were unequivocally atheist. You can guess who won.

My parents (& extended family) were decidedly non-religious. When I was pre-pubescent they let the neighbors take me to church with them etc. for awhile. They (& I) grew to resent all the "Rapture" brainwashing etc. Then that was the end of that.
