mmmm YENDRI
How did I forget her?

http://www.yendri.de/

Please, Dear Machine

Please, dear machine
inhale my soul and let it die
Kill my body and take my mind
Come on, come on, oh, give it a try
Make me one of your kind

Init system, init system, init system, starting up
CPU, CPU, CPU, never stop

Please, dear machine
Take me into your realm
Give me wires, e-lec-tricity
Realize my final dream
And turn it into eternity

Interrupt, interrupt, interrupt, loggin in
Alterate, alterate, alterate, loggin out

Please, dear machine
Show me how to be cold
Just be my instructor
I'll always do what I'm told
Let me be your destructor

Extraction, extraction, extraction, compile
Activate, activate, activate, writing file

Please, dear machine
Turn me into steel,
plastic, chips, circuits,
Nothing I want to feel
Just being binary bits

Operate, operate, operate, verify
Execute, execute, execute, finalize

Everything listed above for sure.  I think I do have two to add though.  Sister's of Mercy as far as goth/rock music goes.  I'm a huge Sister's fan so I can't really recommend any albums specifically except maybe Floodland.  Second would be Coil.  Dark, edgy, industrial.  Check out Love's Secret Domain.  Oh thought of one more, Christian Death.  I would recommend Church of No Return as far as Christian Death albums go.  Also Goth.  Pixies maybe.  Not sure if that qualifies but as far as music with that sort of emotional current....

If you can listen to internet radio, I highly recommend the station "Art of Darkness", which can be found at either Live365.com (which also has many other quality goth stations), or at the owner's website, www.darkdoors.com.

If I'm not listening to that station at work, I'm usually listening to Dropzone from www.somafm.com

Either way, internet radio is a great way to hear music that you've probably never heard before, and usually, the band name and song is displayed in your player.

King Crimson would be my favorite rock band.

If one were to be interested in introducing themselves to the music I would start with the album titled "Red."

Does anyone else love jazz?

Does anyone else love jazz?
My tastes can be eclectic. My focus is Electro-Industrial, Synth-pop, etc. but I definitely branch out. I have a real appreciation for the culture of the 20's & 30's. Jazz music is definitely part of that! However I don't love real be-boppy Jazz, I can only take it in small doses & in certain moods.
With the exception of:
Cab Calloway. I <3 him!
I also definitely appreciate (some) so-called Junkyard Jazz, ala bands like The Wayward Trio. Bands which incorporate (or begin with) Jazz and incorporate disparate elements and sounds. (& vocals are a must.)
(most importantly!!) TOM WAITS! *grovel*

As long as we're suggesting odd musical outfits. I am also a fan of:
On the classical tip: Kronos Quartet.
On the Cabaret tip: Ute Lemper.
And I already mentioned my main man!!: Nick Cave and of course his Bad Seeds!
Most important in my world (though not for everybody):
Einsturzende Neubauten.

This is a fun topic! (says the music obsessive!)
What about sound-track recommendations?
Off the top of my head I'd say:
"Oh Brother, Where art Thou?"
"Jesus of Montreal"
"Hardware"
"Blade Runner."

On heavy rotation from my soundtracks directory:
28 Days Later
American Beauty
Blackhawk Down
Bubba Ho Tep (really!)
Dune
Fight Club
Gladiator
LotR (all 3)
Master and Commander
Memento
Pi
Swordfish
The Last Temptation of Christ
The Matrix (all 3)

I recommend checking out the song "Elephants" by National Health. It's not too often you get to hear a 25/8 meter.
