Topic: Der Speigel Interview With Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
Authors: Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Stefan Aust, Dieter Bednarz, Gerhard Spörl
Dated: 2006-05-31

Hermit summarizes. Ahmadinejad runs circles around three German reporters. Makes it surpassingly clear that from a personal and national standpoint Iran is not interested in acquiring nukes, but is interested in seeing NPT members adhere to their treaty commitments and end their holdings of them. Iran would also like Israel's holding of nukes while outside the NPT to be addressed. Strangely Ahmadinejad does not point out America's massive hypocrisy in its dealings with India, Pakistan and Israel all of which have  nuclear devices and ongoing relationships with America despite being outside the NPT. Ahmadinejad makes a nice job of repeatedly raising the contradictions between the West's pro-Israeli stance because of the alleged death of 6 million Jews in WWII, while ignoring the plight of the Palestinians.

What a pity that he is not reported more widely in his own words rather than others telling us what he is alleged to have said.

With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion. - Steven Weinberg, 1999
