Sorry. I know the general strategy is just to let him have his fun and ignore him, but I had too much time on my hands and let myself get indignant reading one of his cut-and-paste's.

I suppose it is easier to ignore or dismiss uncomfortable truths than it is to suffer the growing pains of incorporating them into a broader view. I do note that I have posed a question for Romanov on the torture thread, and corrected a few errors of his on the Paris thread.
I will address (meaning refute point by point) both the Iraq rant and the Afghanistan rant in due time. Both if these screeds are literally crying out for good solid fiskings, and I intend to fisk them properly, with links to credible and indisputable evidence, rather than the types of faux pseudosources which they themselves employ.

Joe is a brilliant man.
Try having a dialogue with him on a non-political issue.
People here are exasperated by Joe's style of debate and occasional flooding.
Joe I think sees it as redressing an "imbalance" in the CoV. It may have become simple trolling now that the CoV has become overwhelmingly progressive/left wing/socialist/democrat/anti-bush in the political leanings of the vast majority of the Church.
Politically, this community would be an echo chamber but for Joe's heterodoxy. Your Daily Me is being infected with challenging memes. Your feirce reaction to cognitive dissonance is intellectually bracing and very healthy.

Yeah, Hermit thought that I was brilliant and my posted work here was outstanding, until I disagreed with him politically; then he magically saw the light, the scales fell from his previously myopic orbs, the transcendent truth was revealed unto him, and he was stunned by the Saul-on-the-road-to-Tarsus epiphany that I was actually dense and obtuse, and my contributions sucked on dry ice.

He obviously has a self-esteem problem; not a lack, but a massive surplus - as his personal sig, "prime example of a practically perfect person", clearly illustrates.
Hermit adopts a political position. And then he virulently, viscerally hates those politicians who do not decide to do things his way, and must insist that everything that such politicians do or say is insane, malevolent and/or stupid. Subsequently, this white-hot animus is generalized to encompass all people who might dare to disagree with him on the policies which he so loathes. And then, of course, nothing that those people who possessed the temerity and gall to disagree on a political decision with him can do or say will be anything, in his eyes, but retarded, vicious and/or crazy, even if he professed great admiration for their previous contributions.
Yep, that's the long and the short of it; other people, and all of their works, are good or bad, and Hermit likes these people or loathes them, and their contributions, depending upon whether Hermit agrees with some position of theirs or not. Regardless of whether or not the contribution is in any manner related to the position in question.
He just magically sorts what is quality from what is detritus, all by employing the scale of whether the person who produced it is on his agrees-with-me-on-all-things friends list or his dared-to-disagree-with-me shit list. And then he is afflicted by the all-encompassing personal blindness not to be able to see that this behavior of his is irrationally motivated by the bigotrous bias that unmistakably drives it, as well as by a gross and maniacal ego-distention that impels him to regard his subjective and bias-driven opinions on such matters to be objective and indisputable Holy Writ. As if Hermit's ear was privy to the pronounced judgments of a (non-existent) infallible God. Or as if in Hermit's opinion he himself WERE such a personage.
He does not intend his sig ironically or satirically, but believes it literally.
Clearly Hermit is a person whose emotion drives his intellection, and whose megalomanic self-perception drives everything. Definitely not a person from whom one will receive, or should respect, unbiased opinions or judgments. His positions on issues and persons tend to tell you far more about Hermit himself than they do about the issues and persons concerning which he voices opinions. And what they tell one about him is not complimentary at all. In fact, quite the opposite.
Hermit is the guy you should be ignoring.
PS: I originally wrote an entire post on this thread, and cross-posted the section of the post that dealt with Hermit's perjurious doggerel from this thread (where he had posted a link to it) to the thread where the link led and where his clumsy vitriol resides. I did not cross-post everything from my post here to the other thread, as the rest of it did not concern his ham-handed attempt at rendering propagandistic fabrications into poetic form, but was addressed to other issues, information and people.
I will now remove that section from this thread, and leave it on the other thread, where it belongs.

BTW: you might endeavor to bring yourself to try reading some of those papers. You just might like some of their points. And even if you don't, you might learn some things. Sometimes people learn more about their own positions by striving to clearly state just precisely what it is that they disagree with in another position. Of course, whether these are things which you'd prefer not to learn or know, cognitive dissonance-wise, is another matter...
Every time I look around the board, there's another Bush-bashing or Iraqi liberation condemning going on; I'm certainly not going to do any such thing unilaterally...especially when the real liars have been the Democrats - their hugest lies being
1) that Bush lied and manipulated intelligence, when in fact a congressional commission found this not to be the case - every single intelligence analyst testified that there was no pressure whatever from the administration to skew or sex up the intelligence,
2) that Bush had access to intelligence which they lacked (he got daily briefs, but the info. in them was collated and passed on to Congress weekly),
3) that they never supported the liberation of Iraq, when both their pro-regime-change votes and their rhetoric at the time are a matter of public record, and in fact Iraqi regime change had been the official policy of the US ever since 1998, when a Democratic congress passed a bill to that effect and president Clinton signed it into law,
4) that Iraq did not attempt to buy yellowcake from Niger, when Wilson reported to the CIA at the time (and the Niger foreign minister has confirmed) that Iraq did indeed seek to purchase yellowcake from them, but that the deal never went through - and then Wilson was hired by the Kerry campaign and proceeded to lie through his teeth about it,
5) that Dubya convinced the American people that saddam had something to do with 9/11, when a poll taken two days after the attack showed that 71% of Americans already believed it then,
6) that there were no connections between Saddam and Al Qaeda, when, in fact, Zarqawi, an Al Qaeda operative, was operating as head of Ansar el Islam within Iraq for several years before the Us went in, with the full permission of Saddam (his group was atacking Kurds at the time), and the minutes of several contacts between high-ranking officials of Al Qaeda and equally-ranked Iraqi counteparts were found in Baghdad, where the Al Qaedans got a fancy hotel room gratis for two weeks, by the advancing Coalition troops, and
7) that there were no WMD's or plans to make them in Iraq, which begs the questions of why one of Saddam's nuclear scientists had a nuclear centrifuge buried in his rose garden, where those discovered binary gas armed shells that were discovered in Iraq came from, what happened to all those biological and chemical weapons that had been previously catalogued by the UN but were never subsequently found, what exactly was in those midnight truck convoys that, according to our spy satellites, left Iraq and passed through Syria into Lebanon's Hizbullah-controlled Bekaa Valley just before the incursion began, what exactly is under those three large patches of disturbed earth which they left in their wake in the Bekaa Valley, why did tests conducted on the waters of the Tigris and the Euphrates register the presence of binary gas munitions precursor chemicals, what Saddam was planning to do with the reference strains of anthrax, hemorrhagic fever, and tularemia which were discovered in Iraq, and why the tons of explosives at the Al QaQaa munitions dump were of a rare type which was designed to function as nuclear triggers.
