[Blunderov] Senile dementia? In my experience, the aged are just like
themselves, only more so.
Best Regards.

http://politicalhumor.about.com/b/a/196652.htm

<snip>
The 10 Stupidest Things Pat Robertson Ever Said

10) "Over 100 years, I think the gradual erosion of the consensus that's
held our country together is probably more serious than a few bearded
terrorists who fly into buildings." -on the dangers of judicial activism

9) "Lord, give us righteous judges who will not try to legislate and
dominate this society. Take control, Lord! We ask for additional vacancies
on the court."

"Just like what Nazi Germany did to the Jews, so liberal America is now
doing to the evangelical Christians. It's no different. It is the same
thing. It is happening all over again. It is the Democratic Congress, the
liberal-based media and the homosexuals who want to destroy the Christians.
Wholesale abuse and discrimination and the worst bigotry directed toward any
group in America today. More terrible than anything suffered by any minority
in history."

7) "Well, I totally concur." -to Jerry Falwell following the Sept. 11
attacks, after Falwell said, "I really believe that the pagans, and the
abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are
actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For
the American Way -- all of them who have tried to secularize America -- I
point the finger in their face and say: "You helped this happen."

6) "I would warn Orlando that you're right in the way of some serious
hurricanes, and I don't think I'd be waving those flags in God's face if I
were you, This is not a message of hate -- this is a message of redemption.
But a condition like this will bring about the destruction of your nation.
It'll bring about terrorist bombs; it'll bring earthquakes, tornadoes, and
possibly a meteor." -on "gay days" at Disneyworld

5) "(T)he feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a
socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave
their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism
and become lesbians."

4) "I know this is painful for the ladies to hear, but if you get married,
you have accepted the headship of a man, your husband. Christ is the head of
the household and the husband is the head of the wife, and that's the way it
is, period."

3) "That was never in the Constitution, however much the liberals laugh at
me for saying it, they know good and well it was never in the Constitution!
Such language only appeared in the constitution of the Communist Soviet
Union." -on the constitutional separation of church and state

2) "If he thinks we're trying to assassinate him, I think that we really
ought to go ahead and do it. It's a whole lot cheaper than starting a war
... We have the ability to take him out, and I think the time has come that
we exercise that ability. We don't need another $200 billion war to get rid
of one, you know, strong-arm dictator. It's a whole lot easier to have some
of the covert operatives do the job and then get it over with." -calling for
the assassination of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez

1) "Maybe we need a very small nuke thrown off on Foggy Bottom to shake
things up" -on nuking the State Department </snip>

I like him.

He may be nutty but I much prefer these forthright types to the
pusillanimous arse-covering politically correct faux-outraged humourless
cadre of "victims" who pretend to he hurt outraged and/or frightened by such
comments.

Furthermore Chavez IS a madman who is destroying his country.

I think he is also basically right (if hugely exaggerated) about the gender
feminist agenda, the dangers of the unelected judiciary actively opposing
the will of lawmakers and the relative dangers of terrorism versus a
collapse of social consensus.

How can a joke about Foggy Bottom (an obvious fsucking joke!) be interpreted
as anything but?

Robertson is not the fool some media try to portray. Even the author of
Freakonomics liked him when they met the man not the myth.

hurt? outraged? frightened?  I didn't get that . . . I was concentrating on
the sheer stupidity (as in insulting to the intelligence) of Pat's turds.
I suppose you just remain blind to his mythological victimology as a member
of that disenfranchised and powerless group called the Religious Right, . .
. poor oppressed Pat, those liberal faggots are just ruining his life.
What planet are you living on anymore, Jonathan?  Have you been drinking

Jonathan,
Incidentally before you go off idolizing Pat for his "forthrightness" you
should keep up with the story.  The next day he apologized and claimed he
never called for Chavez's assassination . . . which is not only false but a
real pussy-coward move by somebody who can't seem to handle the heat of a
little criticism.  Just to clear up any misconceptions about your new hero.
love, Jake

[Blunderov] I suppose I should have no problem that someone who makes a
profession of faith, and who has such a large audience, should be such a
blatant fool.

Who would Jesus assassinate I wonder? Every single one of Paul the Liar's
descendants is my guess.

The Feminist agenda you say? Is this some relative of the homosexual
agenda*? Are they in open competition for world domination? Handbags at
dawn? What treats!

Chavez, if he is a madman, is a democratically elected madman, a fact to
which Robertson appears rapturously (aah the promised bliss!)indifferent.
But isn't the assumption that Chavez MUST be a foul and illegitimate
dictator interesting? What sort of a world-view does this assumption betray?

Toodle Pip.

* Murky waters these, and seething with agendas. What, we must wonder, was
Jesus' ACTUAL agenda? And was it connected to the **'homosexual agenda' in
any way?

As for the feminist agenda, from what I can make out, it seeks to concern
itself with the means by which justice and human rights can be afforded to
all, especially those who most need them. Of course it goes without saying
that this is a deeply heretical and monstrous blasphemy. Robertson would
surely agree with me that this unspeakable agenda is probably the main
reason why god saw fit to make wooden stakes so very flammable; it's the
miracle of intelligent design - be very, very awestruck.

http://www.landoverbaptist.org/news0205/jesushair.html

Why Did Jesus Have Long Hair Like a Homo?

Dear Paster,

Last weak at homeskool, me and my bruther was lookin at some pitchures of
Jezus, and we sawed he had reel long hairs on his haid.  He looks like my
sister, Suzanna Beth. I askded my teachur (momma) if that means Jezus were a
gay old butt-sniffin' homo like my momma's cousin, "Gay Bobby," cause
neither of theys never got marryed.  But my momma did'nt no the anser.  Can
you pleaze tell us?

Yours in Criyst Jezus,- Billy-Joe

** The Homosexual Agenda
jhaungs@us.oracle.com (Jim Haungs)

I know that many of you have heard Pat Robertson, Jerry Fallwell and others
speak of the "Homosexual Agenda," but no one has ever seen a copy of it.
Well, I have finally obtained a copy directly from the Head Homosexual.

It follows below:

    6:00 am  Gym
8:00 am  Breakfast (oatmeal and egg whites)
    9:00 am  Hair appointment
  10:00 am  Shopping
  12:00 PM  Brunch

    2:00 PM
    1) Assume complete control of the U.S. Federal, State and Local
Governments as well as all other national governments,
    2) Recruit all straight youngsters to our debauched lifestyle,
    3) Destroy all healthy heterosexual marriages,
    4) Replace all school counselors in grades K-12 with agents of
Colombian and Jamaican drug cartels,
    5) Establish planetary chain of "homo breeding gulags" where over-
medicated imprisoned straight women are turned into artificially
impregnated baby factories to produce prepubescent love slaves for our
devotedly pederastic gay leadership,
    6) bulldoze all houses of worship, and
    7) Secure total control of the INTERNET and all mass media for the
        exclusive use of child pornographers.

2:30 PM  Get forty winks of beauty rest to prevent facial wrinkles from

        stress of world conquest
    4:00 PM  Cocktails
6:00 PM  Light Dinner (soup, salad, with Chardonnay)
    8:00 PM  Theater
  11:00 PM  Bed (du jour)?

Nah, I am a pro-drugs, pro-gay rights, pro-abortion, secularist. Hell I am
even a feminist in the sense that I believe in equal treatment for men and
women.

So Pat and I don't agree enough to form a party, but a few ad hoc alliances
might be in order :-)

My comments were not directed at you at all but rather a class of po faced
whinger trotted out on TV with some regularity bemoaning how their interest
group has been offended by the patently inoffensive.

Not blind, no no. I understand his worldview. Don't swallow it for a minute,
but I understand it.

If you say so. I must say I am surprises to see you use words like f**gg**s.
I did not have you pegged as a homophobe. Maybe YOU should be aligning with
Mr Robertson*

Joe Dees owns the Elgin Marbles!

Kind regards & with tongue in cheek,

Jonathan

* Oops, have you been misrepresented? An ironic statement take out of
content? Now you know how Robertson feels... :-)

You misinterpreted, misread or probably just didn't read what the author of Freakonomics wrote.

He basically said that the 700 club was *very* professionally run.  Also he said that he never met Roberts, so he doesn't have an opinion of him one way or another.

He did say that he would recommend John Stewart for president.

I agree.

John's not the sort of person who would want to be president.

I always felt that anyone who want to be president should be denied the job. Since anyone that power-hungry is an inappropriate.

Presidency should be more like a draft.

Hmm, as I recall candidates for the post of Archbishop of Canterbury
aren't allowed to nominate themselves on precisely the grounds that
one should not be seen to be motivated by ambition. Of course, it's
not very difficult for any candidate to request someone to nominate
them..

Did I? I wrote

"Even the author of Freakonomics liked him when they met the man not the
myth." and linked to the post where they wrote:

"The large segment of our society that wants to demonize Robertson will get
no fodder from my interview with him, and the large segment of folks who
like him won't find anything in the interview to change their mind, either."

Perhaps I should have linked to this other post instead:

From
http://www.freakonomics.com/2005/07/more-good-press-for-pat-robertson.html

More good press for Pat Robertson

I'm not the only one saying nice things about Pat Robertson these days."

Read on....

Seems like people like him when they meet him (even remotely via a studio
link up)

Kind regards

Jonathan

just so we know who robertson really is..

he said that the lord spoke to him and assured him that dubya would win a second term. the good lord also informed him that even though the iraq war would be messy and probably not the brightest idea, dubya is O-KAY because he is a man of god and because he prays.

dear jonathan davis, can you please tell me WHY you 'like' pat robertson.

enumerate the reasons.

please.

This isn't a compliment.  It's a politically neutral comment designed to "not annoy" the wealthy and powerful man who helped promote his book.

First, read Bruce Sterling's "Distraction", and then read http://electionmethods.org.

I prefer not to impute motives to Levitt. If indeed Robertson was promoting
the book, it goes to show how balanced and fair he is, considering one of
the book's central arguments is the unintended positive impact of abortion
on crime :-)

In other news, it is a pity he did not divert this hurricane with prayer.
Must be all those Deliverance-esque backwoodsmen enjoying the putative
pleasures of sodomy.
