20 Hail Darwins should sort it out. Without being aware of the specifics
of your transgression, it seems to me that life would become unbearably
stressful if one did not occasionally resort to some small hypocrisies.

Probably we have all met people who always say exactly what they think,
no matter what the circumstances. Loners generally.

Good generalship, I have read, consists of discriminating between those
battles which need to be fought and those that don't.

Best Regards

Notice, Blunderov, that simul spelled the keyword "Hypocracy" not "hypocrisy."

Hypo-
1. under; beneath.
Ex. hypodermis ; hypocenter.

2. less than; deficient.
Ex. hypothermia ; hypokinesis.

-cracy
1. rule; government.
Ex. plutocracy.

I wrote a story about Democracy... and I cheated to get it voted up at Kuro5hin.

How hypocritical is that?

Sheesh.

Ah yes. I did wonder about the spelling. The thought occurred to me that
perhaps it was about deviant guerilla medical practices like, say,
performing unsolicited roadside circumcisions, but I discarded this
possibility as being inconsistent with the context.

Is poor governance a Virian sin? Probably it should be, but who will
judge lest they themselves be judged?

(BTW metahuman, was it your respected self who created the splendid GIFs
of the ideohazard? If so, may I present my grateful thanks? Ideo1.gif
printed up into a great T-shirt which I am wearing, bosom visibly
swollen with pride, as we speak.)

Best Regards

I created a vector version of the ideohazard and then the Big D.L. said one of his friends would recreate it. I didn't spend too much time on it as I do this kind of shit for a living. However, his friend did a good job, and I said go with it.

A more powerful way for me to have had the story published would be for me to have gotten all my friends to vote for it.

If I had gone that route it may have required more work, but the benefits would be lasting.

This is the case when it comes to hypocrisy.  Any time you find yourself falling short of your own word, it is typically a false gain and an overall loss of opportunity.

I lost the opportunity to refine my friendships and draw my community closer to me.

I gained nothing because I could have achieved the same outcome using enrollment conversation.

The owner and some readers of k5 noticed my deceit, and this will caise some people to trust the system less and possibly use it less.  This is a system I really love... so the loss there is mine as well.

You might say I saved time... but the cost clearly outweighed the benefits.

Affinity (reputation) is a precious commodity...

A little bit of vanity can be annoying sometimes but does not necessarily hurt anyone. On the other hand...

How drug firms 'hoodwink' medical journals

http://observer.guardian.co.uk/uk_news/story/0,6903,1101680,00.html

Hundreds of articles in medical journals claiming to be written by academics or doctors have been penned by ghostwriters in the pay of drug companies, an Observer inquiry reveals.

The journals, bibles of the profession, have huge influence on which drugs doctors prescribe and the treatment hospitals provide. But The Observer has uncovered evidence that many articles written by so-called independent academics may have been penned by writers working for agencies which receive huge sums from drug companies to plug their products.

Estimates suggest that almost half of all articles published in journals are by ghostwriters. While doctors who have put their names to the papers can be paid handsomely for 'lending' their reputations, the ghostwriters remain hidden. They, and the involvement of the pharmaceutical firms, are rarely revealed.
