Why do you automatically assume that the survival of humanity is in our best interest? I find this very debatable.

OK, if it is very debatable then let's debate it. Whose interest would it be in for humanity to die out?

Who is to say that the total happiness in the world outweighs the total unhappiness (or otherwise around).

Scientists that research this question say that "Almost all humans are surprisingly happy almost all the time".

I think an interesting component of this is a desire to have a surviving humanity that operates on positive memetic principles...

empathy, reason and vision

Actually, I would argue that a surviving humanity will only come as a result of these three things as survival memes - the opposites lead to closed-state thinking, which damps itself down towards entropy.

In fact, when I first went nuts on the things that led me to the word 'memetics', which led me to the Church of the Virus, it was because I could only see things in terms of information cascade.

Positive Information Cascade can be followed, encouraged, helped.

Negative Information Cascade (entropy, apathy, dogmatism, hypocrisy) can be hacked.
